# Help with making changes to Nemo in coupled model

Hi Ros,

Many thanks - following your advice, I’ve done the following:  
export SVN\_EDITOR=vi

svn copy [https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/trunk@5518](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/trunk@5518) [https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev\_5518\_jyg](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev_5518_jyg)

svn checkout [[https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev\_5518\_jyg](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev_5518_jyg) nemo  
([https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev\_5518\_jyg](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/svn/nemo/branches/NERC/dev_5518_jyg))

%then a test change to a comment line in

/home/n02/n02/jgrist02/um/branches/nemo2/NEMOGCM/NEMO/OPA\_SRC/SBC/sbccpl.F90

export SVN\_EDITOR=vi

svn commit sbccpl.F90

In the gui for u-dk172  
I changesd nemo\_sources to ‘branches/NERC/dev\_r5518\_jyg

And run uk-dk172

Unfortunately the job failed at fcm\_make\_ocean – and I could not find any error message.

Would if be possible to advise on where I’ve gone wrong with the process of making changes to nemo code and then running new code?
