I ran HadGEM3 HH (u-dw047) for a month and would like to continue it from where it finished .

Naively, I thought I could point the restarts to the

Relevant files /folders

/work/n02/n02/jgrist02/cylc-run/u-dw047/run1/share/data/History\_Data/NEMOhist/dw047o\_19500201\_restart\_

Etc in the GUI

And change the model basis time from 1950 01 01 to 1950 02 01

But the error message reads

???

???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!! ERROR ???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!

? Error code: 10

? Error from routine: INITTIME

? Error message:

? Mismatch between model\_basis\_time read from namelist and validity time read

? from dump fixed header.

?

? model\_basis\_time = 1950 2 1 0 0 0

? fixhd validity time = 1950 1 1 0 0 0

?

? If this is intentional disable this check by setting all elements of

? namelist:nlstcall=model\_basis\_time to zero. Otherwise make adjustments to

? either the namelist or dump to ensure that these two values match.

?

? Please note, that if it is valid to do so for your job setup, you may change

? the validity time of the dump using the reconfiguration namelist variables:

? \* namelist:headers=i\_override\_date\_time

? \* namelist:headers=new\_date\_time

?

Could you please direct me to make the necessary changes I should make.

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

All you need to do is to change the run length from 1 month to e.g. 1 year or whatever length you wanted and restart the suite and it will then automatically pick up from where it left off.

To be honest if you’ve only run 1 month, it’ll be easier to just start the run from the beginning again rather than try and fix up what’s gone wrong.

Cheers,
Ros

Hi Ros,

Sorry just want to clarify these steps.

As I’m just getting the first month output again as opposed to a continuation.

What I tried was the following:

I increase ‘Total Run length’ under ‘Run Initialisation and cycle.’

And (as its cylc 8)

export CYLC\_VERSION=8

cylc tui

cylc play u-dw047

from within /home/n02/n02/jgrist02/roses/u-dw047

many thanks,

Jeremy
