MOSRS Account Set Up

Hi there,

I hope this is the right email to use - I’m looking to get an account set up with MOSRS, so that I can run the UM on Archer2 / Puma2. I have an account on Archer2 (username mattpollock100, set up last week) and I’ve applied for Puma2 via the SAFE website. As far as I can work out, I need to contact this email address for the MOSRS set up. Could you help with that, or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

For background, I’m a PhD student at UCL, supervised by Chris Brierley. I’m looking at Arctic sea ice in the warm climates of the Last Interglacial and future projections, as simulated by GCMs and ESMs. I plan to run PMIP Last Interglacial experiment (abrupt-127k) on the UM as part of this PhD.

Thanks for your help,

Matt

Hi Matt,

No, this is not the correct email address to use. CMS are part of NCAS, who support our (as in the scientific community not internal to the Met Office) use of ARCHER2 and related systems. They do not control MOSRS, which is Met Office. So to get a MOSRS account, you need to email scientific_partnerships@metoffice.gov.uk

Charlie

Ok, thank you!

To clear up confusion for anyone else reading this query, MOSRS account requests for NCAS and Academic users are usually requested through us. We then put in the request to the Met Office. If you go direct, then the Met Office will usually email us anyway for approval.

I have just approved your MOSRS account Matt so you should hopefully hear from the Met Office soon.

Cheers,
Ros

Enormous apologies Ros, it has been so long since I registered that I have forgotten how to do everything, and I assumed MOSRS access would be requested from the MO, not you. Apologies. I believe Harry (cc’d) has also requested access, as well as Matt, and has received a reply saying they are waiting for sponsor approval. Is this something you can do?

I fully appreciate this is very short notice, but if MOSRS access could be granted before Tuesday (27th), that would be really appreciated.

Charlie
