Thanks again for the quick help in October (and sorry about the bounce). Following Becky’s advice, the APEX Facilities section will select ARCHER2 and state:
- Intended NCR: Cirrus, or its successor, for the UM.
- Usage: up to 70 kCU per year in 2030–32 (≈9M CPU core-hours per year, if 1 CU = 1 ARCHER2 node-hour). This is for ~12 km Antarctic-wide UM-CASIM runs of two six-week periods, with default and revised microphysics.
- Engagement: scoping with NCAS-CMS and NERC HPC (this exchange), plus the CMS guidance on the UM on Cirrus.
