Stash codes in the CH4 emissions

Hi,

I have been looking at the CH4 emissions mode in vn12.0 and noticed some of the stashmaster entries look different to expected! For the section 52 entries, the LBVC value of 65 (hybrid height) is used, not 8 (pressure) for some of the methane diags eg:

1| 1 | 52 | 431 |atmos CH4 photol flux (3D) PLEVS |
2| 0 | 0 | 17 | 1 | 2 | 10 | 11 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
3| 000000000000000000000000010000 | 00000000000000000001 | 3 |
4| 1 | 0 | -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 -99 |
5| 0 | 1871 | 0 | 65 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Just wondering if this was intentional as I need to use this diag!

Also, for the methane emissions runs, are there emissions files available to use (including the flux adjustment)? I currently have access to some 2020 files but nothing else.

Thanks,
Hannah

Hi Hannah,

This was a bug during addition of the diagnostics and has been fixed for UM13.5.
Changeset 122392 for main/trunk/rose-meta/um-atmos/HEAD/etc/stash/STASHmaster – Unified Model
You can apply the changes in a working copy and use that STASHmaster for your run.

Re: CH4 emission/ flux files - I suggest you contact Gerd Folberth or Fiona O’Connor to obtain the appropriate files. I can help to copy over to ARCHER2 if they are suitable to be shared.

Best wishes

Mohit

Hi Mohit,

Thank you! That’s great I’ll contact them.
