Converted Cylc 8 Suite Incompatible

Dear CMS Helpdesk,

I’m trying to run u-dr920 which I have converted to a Cylc 8 workflow following the online instructions.

When I run cylc play u-dr920 from the roses directory I get the following error:

ServiceFileError: Workflow database is incompatible with Cylc 8.4.4, or is corrupted.

I can’t understand why this is happening because when I run cylc validate u-dr920 or cylc lint --rules 728 no issues are identified.

Could you take a look at my suite and see if I am missing anything please?

Hi Alfred,

It’s because you’ve previously been running the suite with cylc7 and the cylc7 database is not compatible with the cylc8.

I’m currently looking at your postprocessing issue in ticket Validity Time Mismatch For the moment please DO NOT delete your cylc-run directories for u-dr920 as I need the files under there to try and diagnose the issue.

Thank you for getting back to me, and for looking at the Validity Time Mismatch. I will not delete cylc-run for u-dr920, but I presume from what you’re saying that if I were to delete that folder, I could run u-dr920 using cylc8?

Hi Alfred,

Yes if you delete the cylc-run/u-dr920 directories on both PUMA2 and ARCHER2 and then try again with cylc8. I noted a few changes you’ll need to make to the suite in your other ticket. Validity Time Mismatch assuming you’ve not already made them since I copied your suite directory. :grin:
