SSH into puma2 within No Machine

Hello,

I am using No Machine as I like using graphical editors (not emacs or vim). I want to manually edit rose suites on puma2. So I need to ssh into archer2 and then puma2 from within No Machine.

When I ssh into No Machine, I am on a Jasmin login server. I have created a ssh key pair and added it to SAFE. When I try to ssh into archer2 I get a “Permission denied (publickey).” If I assume the ssh key pair is working okay, then I guess this means I can’t ssh from here. Instead should I ssh directly into archer2 rather than into jasmin first? What would the nx pathname on archer 2 be then (i.e. the equivalent to (nx1.jasmin.ac.uk)? This is not covered in the documentation (which is awesome btw).

Thank you,
Penny

I do not ssh to ARCHER via JASMIN as a rule - I simply ssh to ARCHER from my local machine, pc, or laptop. You might want to look at Getting Set Up (Leeds Training Course) — NCAS Unified Model Introduction for setup details (slightly old now, but still valid I believe.)

Nothing prevents you from using a graphical editor on puma2 (nedit is installed.)

Thank you! I incorrectly assumes that because JASMIN could not handle text editors that archer2 and pump2 could not either. Very happy to be wrong. I can already ssh into puma2, just been avoiding using text editors.
