Branch that contains the acclimation code?

Hi Patrick,

what is the branch that contains the acclimation code?

Best wishes,
Pier Luigi

Hi Pier Luigi:

Do you want the JULES FORTRAN branch name or the rose-cylc suite branch name?

PCM

Hi Patrick:
The one that allows us to compare the code on the browser, with highlighted colours?

Basically we want for Wenyao to see how/where that extra code to compute the temp_acclim prognostic was computed, as well as how it was inserted into the module declarations, so that it is accessible.

Wenyao needs to create three new variables, to hold light, daytime temperature and nighttime temperature.

PL

Hi Pier Luigi:
Thanks.

There is a browser tracking compare version for both the JULES FORTRAN branch and the Rose/Cylc suite branch. The latter branch uses the former branch.

I am guessing you need both branches.

Patrick

Hi Pier Luigi:

A followup question:

Do you want the UM branches or the offline JULES branches?

Patrick

Hi Patrick
For now, the offline JULES branches

Many thanks,
PL

Hi Pier Luigi:
OK. Do you want the 9PFT version or the 5PFT version? I found the former for the UM-suite branch.

I am not sure which (9PFT or 5PFT) exists for the offline JULES branches, but I will look now.

Patrick

Hi Patrick
Since this is the code we used with Becky and Lina, I would say 9PFT.

PL

Hi Pier Luigi:

I am cleaning up, updating, and testing the offline JULES 9 PFT suite now.

Patrick

Hi Pier Luigi:

I needed to temporarily disable the top model, due to a missing file that both Becky and I had been using that was in Omar’s directory that he got from Markus that he got from Toby Marthews.

Once that top-model file is found (by Omar), we can just set l_top=.true. in order to use it, or we could revert to the prior version of that file that was used in the GL7 suite.

I also chose to check-in DougC or BeckyO’s changes of the JULES Fortran code to MOSRS, rather than have it pointing to a modified JASMIN copy of their FORTRAN code.

Here’s the change set from the GL7 suite u-bb316 to a suite (u-cx563) that currently runs at least through the RECON step (SPINUP and MAIN_RUN are pending):

And here’s the change set from the JULES 5.6 trunk to the branch (r16462_vn5.6_acclim_dbcl2)

of the JULES standalone FORTRAN code that is up to date with the suite u-cx563 and its immediate ancestors:

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Many thanks for this, shall study up.

Kind regards,

Pier Luigi

Dear Wenyao,
Cc Patrick, Martin,

I have asked Patrick to point me to the pages that document all the changes, please see his links above.

Kind regards,
Pier Luigi

Hi Wenyao & Pier Luigi:
The main run got stuck, due to output profiles 3 & 4 having dates from 2005-2010, that are not in the first decade (1979-1989) of the run, which is done in decadal batches. So I disabled these two output profiles. The suite with these two output profiles disabled is checked in as an update to the original suite, u-cx563.
