Hi,
I am currently setting up a 2022 UKESM-AMIP simulation using the suite u-ed658, and I would like to check whether the newer input datasets available in the shared areas are generally ready for use in production simulations.
The main shared CMIP7 area I have been using is:
/work/y07/shared/umshared/cmip7/ancils/n96e
For my current 2022 setup, the relevant input categories include:
- CMIP7 AerosolChemistryEmissions
- CMIP7 historical GHG input
- CMIP7 VolcanicSad
- Reynolds SST/SIC
- vegetation/land-cover ancillary
I would like to ask whether, in general, the CMIP7 datasets currently available in the shared area can be considered validated/ready for UKESM simulations, or whether there are any specific input categories that are still preliminary or should not yet be used for production runs.
I have one particular question about land cover / vegetation fraction. I previously tried using the newer generic CMIP7 vegetation-fraction ancillary, but the UM rejected it with an ancillary-header compatibility error:
PP HEADERS ON ANCILLARY FILE DO NOT MATCH
Could you advise whether there is now a recommended CMIP7 land-cover/vegetation-fraction dataset suitable for an N96e UKESM-AMIP simulation, or whether retaining this existing UKESM ancillary is still the appropriate choice?
Many thanks,
Chang
