SVN issues with JULES on Jasmin

Hi there,

I have been receiving errors from code.metoffice whilst trying to compile JULES from Jasmin [cylc2 server]. I am running suite u-dq927, which has previously run with no errors. Running mosrs-check returns okay & all successful.

Here are example error messages:

svn: E130003: Malformed XML: no element found at line 26742

svn: E120106: ra_serf: The server sent a truncated HTTP response body.

I have not been able to find any further debugging or checking ideas. I have occasionally received these errors in the past, but more sporadically. Is there a route to solving this beyond waiting 24hrs and seeing if it clears up?

All best

Ol

Hi Ol

Were you getting the error messages just this morning or at other times as well? If the former, they could be due to MOSRS weekly maintenance (see https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/trac/home/wiki/FAQ#Maintenancewindow).

Hi David,

Ah - that could be it. Thanks. I have had the issues for about 36hrs, but before last night Jasmin was having issues.

EDIT: It has been working fine this afternoon but has now returned…

All best

Ol

Just to note I am having these issues again today.

Hi Ol

There were some network problems reported on the JASMIN status page (https://www.ceda.ac.uk/status/) yesterday. Your errors might have been related to them. Are you still getting the errors today?

I’ll be running some Rose Stem tests before the end of the week. I’ll see if I encounter similar errors.

Hi David,

Thanks for getting back to me. Honestly, they happen very randomly and for a period of a few hours 2 or 3 times a week. Sometimes this is reported, other times not. My feeling from digging around old stack overflow threads / asking LLMs etc is it is about load on the Met office code API and / or load on Jasmin leading to a garbled communication.

Not sure there is a lot to do.
